You’re invited to our 3rd Sunday Funday Bike Ride – “Roots, Architecture, and Escapism: The North San Gabriel Valley“!
Date: Sunday, March 6, 2011
Time: Meet at 8:30 AM, Ride at 9:00 AM
Location: Rose Bowl parking lot K. (The Rose Bowl is located at 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, Pasadena, CA 91103, but we’re meeting at the southwest parking lot—Lot K—at West Dr. & Seco Dr.)
Led by LACBC Board Member Alex Amerri this 62-mile ride for advanced riders will explore the many architectural and historical developments of the North San Gabriel Valley (including Pasadena, La Canada, Altadena, and Sierra Madre). This ride includes a stop at Chantry Flats campground and a stop for what Alex claims is the finest authentic gelato ice cream outside of Italy. To quote Alex in regards to this gelato, “It’s mind-blowingly good.” This ride promises to be fun, informative, and an excellent workout.
Length: 62mi (a.k.a. a Metric Century, 100km) with climbs scattered around. Estimated to last 4 to 4.5 hours.
Difficulty: For advanced riders. Includes 4,000 ft. of climbing (but not all at once!).
What to bring: Tubes and tools recommended. Water/fluid bottles, nutrition as the rider sees fit. Dress accordingly. Check weather conditions beforehand as estimate temperature variance can be as much a 10-15 degrees below predicted temperatures in some areas.
Weather: Heavy rain cancels the ride, but light-rain/drizzle is not a deterrent.
Facebook Event: Feel free to spread the word via Facebook here.
Sunday Funday Rides are free and open to LACBC members plus one guest. Interested in becoming a member? Visit our membership page or become a member at the ride at a discounted price.
